How to Present to a YCSD Chromecast device
Presenting using Chromecast
Ensure that your computer is connected to either YCSD_Wireless, YC_Chromecast, or YCSD_Staff. The web browser Chrome is required. There is a chance that your browser has not been updated to the latest version of Chrome. If this is the case, your menu options might be slightly different, but the basic process will be the same.
Troubleshooting
If the Chromecast is showing as offline or “only available for specific video sites” follow the steps below.
Disconnect the power from both the Chromecast device and the TV by switching off the power strip. Wait 10 seconds, and turn the power back on. Wait for around 30 seconds for both the TV and Chromecast to reboot, and then switch to Chromecast on the TV.
On your computer on Chrome, select the 3 dots in the top right corner, and scroll down and select Exit.
After exiting, open Chrome again and attempt to cast.
If the Chromecast is still showing as offline or only available for specific video sites, submit a ticket by emailing support@ycschools.org
How to present
On your computer, launch Chrome and follow the steps below:
Select the three dots in the upper right.
Select Cast, save and share.
Select Cast.
Select the device that you wish to share your content with.
After selecting Cast, a popup will appear and list the available options to connect to.
At the bottom, you can select Sources and either share your entire screen, or just the tab you are currently using.
Important: Once you are done, ensure that you stop the casting process correctly. This can be done by going through the same steps, and selecting Stop under the current device you are casting to. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE CHROMECAST WILL LIKELY MALFUNCTION.
